Meet Copper

Six years old. Yellow Labrador. Charlotte, North Carolina. Every fact on this page is true, and every photo is really him.

Copper is a car dog. Not a dog who tolerates the car — a dog whose day is organized around the next ride. He sits upright in the back seat on a blanket printed with dogs (he has never commented on the blanket; he simply owns it), watches the world through the sunroof, and regards any trip — daycare, errands, anywhere — as a personal appearance.

At doggy daycare he swims. There is a pool, there is a black Lab who is his best friend, and there is a version of Copper that comes home wet and entirely satisfied with how the day went. At home he holds down the couch, supervises the neighborhood from his walks, and sheds a fine yellow dust over the whole operation.

He is six — a prime adult with the first silver arriving on his muzzle. This page grows as he does: new photos, new facts, same dog.
