COPPERthe yellow lab

FAQ

Is Copper a real dog?

Yes — a six-year-old yellow Labrador who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his humans, Ryan and Christine Scott. Every photo of him on this site, the show, and the books is a real photo of him. There is no AI version, no stock model, no understudy.

Who hosts the show?

Ryan Scott, Copper's human, narrates it. Christine Scott joins from launch week in 'Christine's corner.' Nobody voices Copper — dogs don't podcast, and we don't fake it. (The one exception is a comedy book, clearly labeled fiction, where Copper 'narrates' in print. It's a joke book; jokes are allowed.)

What do 'Tested with Copper' and 'On the shelf' mean?

They're the gear shelf's honesty labels. Tested with Copper means Copper's humans have actually used the product with him, in real life — the label carries the date and what the test was, including when something only half-worked. On the shelf means we stock it because the specs are right for Lab life, but Copper hasn't tested it yet. At launch, everything was On the shelf, and the show announces every label change on Tuesdays.

Why is the tested list empty?

Because the brand launched before the tests happened, and the honest label for an untested product is 'untested.' Samples get tested on the real dog, in the real back seat, on real couch fabric — and only then does the label change.

Does Copper really ride in the car that much?

Yes. The hero photo on this site — back seat, blanket, sunroof — isn't a photo shoot; it's a Tuesday. The back-seat blanket doing seat-cover duty in that photo is also why the car seat cover on the gear shelf is labeled the way it is.

Is this veterinary or training advice?

No. The show and books share owner experience and general Labrador knowledge, and they're explicit about which is which. Nobody in this brand is a vet or a certified trainer. Health questions go to your veterinarian; ours too.

Where does Copper live, exactly?

Charlotte, North Carolina. That's as exact as this brand gets, on purpose.

How are orders fulfilled and shipped?

Gear Shelf orders are paid through Stripe and shipped by our fulfillment partner; the product page and checkout show the current shipping window before you pay. Returns questions go through the Contact page.

Why does the gear shelf mention another show?

Because the same products get a very different treatment there. Sell First, Ship Later is Ryan's build-in-public dropshipping show, where products are torn down with their full cost math. This brand is the dog's life; that show is the business. They link to each other in exactly this one place and otherwise stay in their lanes.

Can I send Copper a story about my dog?

Please do — the Contact page reaches his humans. (Copper reads all fan mail from the back seat. This is not strictly a fact, but it is strictly the arrangement.)
